I keep trying to write about the month of June, but that’s a lot to write in one post! They say a picture is worth a thousand words, so here’s a bit about what my family and I were up to in the month of June:
(Please keep in mind I don’t have a fancy DSLR, just an iPhone. Ahem.)
Lots of much-needed rest…
Lots of reading! (insert purring sound here)…

Beautiful Battle: A Woman’s Guide to Spiritual Warfare by Mary DeMuth, highly recommended
Tears of sorrow mingled with joy for a beloved cousin now rejoicing with Christ in her new, whole body…
Time spent plowing deep ruts through the book of Isaiah, soaking in its wisdom… (I’m in the process of writing more about this)
Time to cook some of my favorite foods…
The occasional freaky produce item (twice, seriously??)…
A visit to my parents’ house in Oz for my mama- and daddy-fix…
And lots of quantity-IS-quality time with my husband and kids…
And absolutely none of this (which was actually quite wonderful)…
I had a great month, and I’m so glad I took the time to refocus and spend time with family. They mean everything to me.
My big-hearted little guy starts kindergarten this fall, and I’ll miss him so much! It will be a huge adjustment having only one child in the house all day again. Until then, I want to spend as much time as possible with my husband and kids. They are my most precious gifts and I don’t want to miss a minute.
So what have YOU been up to lately? I’d love to hear about your summer!

My sweet friend, it’s so fun to take a peek inside your life beyond the screen! I know you enjoyed your time and I am so thankful I get to catch up with your nearly daily. Im just ‘itchin for Allume!
Praying for you as you dip your toes back into the web… God is our guide, He’ll lead us if we will follow. XXOOO
Ok, Jana. “Nuclear” vegetables aside, it seems you’ve had a wonderful summer! I see so much of you in your beautiful kids, and it’s so hard to accept that we’re all getting older. I guess this summer has been about accepting changes, for me-some of which I’m not too happy about accepting. I volley from being the “tough survivor” to being curled up in a fetal position; hoping things will all go away. I’ve learned so much more about savoring each moment, because you never know when those moments will change or go away. Hug those babies and nurture your marriage. Those are things that will last!! (Yes, I miss Carol terribly! The joy is that we get to have a huge family reunion one day, and Grandma will all be fussing at us to eat more rolls!)
I love all of your Real Life pictures of the wonderful time you had! It’s so true… we will miss so little of this stuff we leave behind, especially when we embrace the only treasures we get to take with us to heaven! You are an example to us all
Your photos tell a delightful story of rest, relaxation, and rejuvenation. Love them! I’m a tad envious as my summer has been kinda hectic so far. Boy, I hear you on the social networking thing. I feel like cutting facebook totally out of my life, but then I would miss keeping in touch with very far away friends. So….guess I’ll keep it. Anyway, so good to see you back in the blogging world. Enjoy every moment of this summer before you send your second child off to school.
