It’s Friday, friends! We made it!
To celebrate, let’s play Five Minute Friday! Lisa-Jo provides the prompt and we write our hearts out for just five minutes, without worrying about making things perfect.
Today’s prompt is BEYOND.
Ready?
– GO –
Beyond the mess on my floors and the mess in my heart, there is a Savior calling, urging me to see life with His eyes.
Beyond diapers and nap time and temper tantrums lies a beautiful little girl who’s coming into her own, a daughter of the King and future woman of God.
Beyond kindergarten worries and childhood nightmares and intentionally fraying my very. last. nerve. hides a warrior in training, a future daddy and bold leader emerging.
Beyond preteen drama, orthodontia and peer pressure, this almost-adult is learning, growing, becoming a bright light in a dark world and spreading joy to those who lack.
This too-plain, too-cluttered home is a haven for hearts who will always remember this place as their launching pad and safe haven from the worries of life, their home until they one day see Home.
– STOP –
.
Today, I’m striving to see with Christ’s eyes –
beyond my current mess — to glimpse the future
and the plan He has for my family.
How do you stay focused to view life through Christ’s eyes?

Lovely!!
Thank you, Holly! So nice to meet you!
“urging me to see life with His eyes.”
That’s the key, isn’t it.
Thank you for opening your heart and pointing us to Jesus today.
Sending BIG Love your way!
If only I could keep my Jesus-glasses on all the time! Thank the Lord for grace. Sending that love right back atcha, my friend!
I love the glimpses beyond he shares with us, so encouraging for those crazy moments! Today I’m looking beyond my world to the world of disabled, institutionalized people in Serbia. My trip is coming together and I’m definitely being led beyond myself!
Oh I can only imagine! I’m so looking forward to hearing all about your trip, Beck. I know God can do mighty things through your willingness to serve. You shine brightly for Christ, my friend!
Oh Jana –
This is tremendous.
I needed to read these words this morning… to remember that beyond these post kindergarten meltdown and toddler tantrums, are the glimpses of the men they will become.
Oh how wretched I am! Pray for me, friend, and I will pray for you, that we DO learn to see with His eyes, and embrace every moment that HE gives us!!
It sounds like we’re living parallel lives, huh, Meredith? I adore my children, but I have to admit I struggle through the preschool years. I’m praying for you today, friend! I know we can press into Him together. Right there with you, sister. ((hugs))
Your words always fill me up and remind me what I’m here for. Thank you, Jana.
Beautiful 5 minute write, friend! Happy Friday to you. May you savor His grace today…
You are such an encouragement to my heart, Nikki! I get so bogged down in the daily grind and forget I might not be the only one struggling. Let’s do this thing together, yes? Grace and blessings to you, friend!
You always have beautiful words!
And YOU always make my heart smile! Thank you, Jamie. Have a fabulous weekend!
Oh hurray for seeing beyond the mess…. The mess in my heart is so bad today, I couldn’t publish my 5MF. I just couldn’t see beyond it. Hoping to try again later.
Sweet sister, I *know*. I’ve had a whole month of that. I’m praying for you today, Julie Anne, that He will wrap His mighty arms around you and give you grace to see through His eyes, words when it’s time, and peace through the storm.
I do hope you’ll give it another try when you’re ready. Would you comment or email me the link if you do so I can read it? Sending big, Texas-sized hugs and prayers your way. Hang in there, girl.
Thank you so much for sharing your heart in this today. I needed the reminder to see past what I see. Blessings!
Blessings to you, Wendy! I needed the reminder, too.
It’s been a while I suppose since I’ve seen your page Jana, but I am glad I got a chance to read a recent Five Minute Friday. You’ve actually got me to thinking, actually got me wanting to step “beyond” my comfort zone of trying something new like participating in this type of blogging post!
It may sound weird but in a moment of frustration of dealing with a teenager and a lack of communication of friends coming over, with my mind already consumed with thoughts about dangerous territory of how easily we can step outside the will of the Lord when we allow ourselves to get caught in worldly matters and hanging around others we are not spiritually connected with, evil and temptation can lead us down a sinful road if we are not careful in our daily lives with those with who are not Christ-minded. We are to speak up and speak out when our brothers and sisters in the Lord fall. Will we stand by and let them be consumed simply because we do not want to stir up any conflict of sorts or do we pray and do what’s right because conviction and God’s truth tell us what we should do?
I can only say that this short post confirmed many of things even before I read it. Thank you dear sister! I pray all is well with you and yours!
Have a fabulous Friday and a great weekend!
~Terra

Oh yes, to keep those Jesus glasses on. I seem to misplace mine so often.
